THE LATIN JAZZ QUARTET
If your a Latin Jazz lover this is a must see band. Latin music hasn’t seen this kind of diversity for some time, let alone from just four people. Yet The Latin Jazz Quartet is able to achieve a unique balance of various styles within the Latin genre, mixing their skills and diverse backgrounds into a sound unlike anything you’ve heard before. The group plays regularly Mixing Afro Cuban and Salsa rhythms which is part of the key
to their success. Their rapidly escalating popularity is responsible for their growth out of Rochester New York where the quartet is based and got their start. Combine that with the reviews (not one of them negative) and you’ll see how this band has set their own stage for success. This group combines high energy and dynamic subtleties like no other. Leading the forefront is Drumset/Timbalero Freddy Colon,
combined with Bassist Orlando Nunez, Pianist Victor Antonetti Jr. and Conguero Tony Padilla. They perform for schools, private parties, corporate events, festivals and more. - and if you haven’t heard of them yet, you will.
Each member of The Latin Jazz Quartet has a background as a professional musician, recording artist, and or composer. Together they produce exceptional instrumentals that paint musical colors from around the world. Freddy Colon (drumset, timbales) With 20 years' experience, Freddy works with the Mambo Kings. He has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, the Syracuse, Baltimore, and
Vancouver Symphonies, the Louisville and San Antonio Orchestras, and has had the honor of sharing the stage with the "Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin, and the late Tito Puente. Freddy is currently working as a studio and club musician in Rochester and surrounding areas, where he performs regularly with salsa and Latin jazz bands. He also teaches at the Eastman School of Music.

Gabriel Paco Martinez's (Sax/Flute) Grew up in Liberia,Costa Rica. He graduated from Artistic School studying Saxophone Performamce with the Master Alvaro Guevara D. He also studied at
EBM of UCR an am a music teacher. He started to play the sax when he was 13 years old. In 1997, he made his debut with Morpho Latin Jazz in Costa Rica. Since then, he has been playing the sax with many latin bands, quartet, duet, and different musical ensembles. He has performed with Cubaneo in Portland Oregon for the last 2 years. Gabriel now lives in Rochester, NY and has been playing latin jazz and
salsa/merengue with various groups. |

Tony Padilla (congas) plummeted into the performance world over twenty years ago. As a child, he idolized the renowned conguero Ray Barretto, and dreamed of following in his footsteps. Padilla’s
parents, both Puerto Rican natives, have also influenced his love of music and of business. He has combined his passion for performing and his keen sense of business to bring music to the lives of others. Padilla’s impressive resume consists of performances with esteemed artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Steve Gadd, Arturo Sandoval, Rafael Dejesus, Jay Lozada, Jerry Gonzalez, Wilfredo Reyes Sr., Tom Tomaya,
Rich Thompson, Lou Gram, The Maelstrom Percussion Ensemble, and The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Tony also performs with a vast amount of other local bands and does extensive studio session work and teaching.
