Guidelines
for Duties and Responsibilities
Of Supervised
Visitation Security Staff
Our security staff
provides a critical support to the safe provision of supervised
visitation services. Depending on the individual situations and needs
our security staff may:

Design
a security plan for your visitation.

Monitor the location of the visitation and surrounding area for risks
to safety of visitation participants.

Check
for weapons or dangerous instruments on the persons of any/all
participant at the supervised visitation and disarm all participants
of weapons (this includes law enforcement officers who are
participants, even if they are known to security staff).

Conduct a breathalyzer screening for alcohol abuse or intoxication.

q
Ensure
that disputed parties do not interact or have opportunity to interact
either in the location of the visitation or the surrounding areas.

q
Terminate visitation when the agreed rules of visitation have been
violated.

q
Take
appropriate action when necessary to facilitate any arrests that are
warranted or to call law enforcement officers in the jurisdictional
area to make or assist in the arrest.

Testify in court as to observations of particular visits, incidents,
families.
Additionally, the
security staff may be required to:
q
Conduct investigative background screening on visitation participants.
q
Collect fees for services.
q
Escort
parties to and from visitation locations.
q
Attend
meetings with court mandated participants such as, Law Guardians,
social workers, day care providers, counselors, etc.
q
Collect and return car keys to participants of visitations.
q
Remove
family members, friends, or others from areas of visitation that are
not part of the order for visitation.
In all cases, our
staff will refrain from developing relationships with families, giving
advice beyond how to abide by visitation rules, and engaging in
favoritism.
Special skills and
abilities of our security staff:

Ability to deal effectively with individuals, including children and
adolescents.
q
Ability to recognize and detect signs of fear/ intimidation in adults
and children.
q
Ability to recognize dangerous or potentially dangerous situations.
q
Ability to handle the unexpected situations.
q
Ability to respond to emergent situations in a calm and efficient
manner.
q
Ability to manage and handle violent individuals.
q
Ability to communicate effectively in any type of situation.
q
Ability to read, interpret, and to ensure the regulatory provisions of
court orders and orders of protections.
q
Ability to work without close supervision and to make independent
decisions regarding security issues.
